Direct To Film FAQs

Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a method where designs are printed onto a special film, which is then transferred onto fabric using heat and pressure. This technique allows for vivid colours and detailed prints on various materials.

DTF printing offers high detailed and crisp, sticker quality prints. It is great for small orders, complex designs and designs with many colours.

Screen printing is more cost-effective for large quantities with lower colour counts. It remains the preferred method for large, full-coverage prints, especially when considering the feel of the print.

For DTF printing, a vector file (EPS, SVG, PDF) is the best to ensure optimal print quality and colour precision.

High-resolution files in formats such as PNG, TIFF, or PSD are also accepted.

Make sure your files are set to the correct size and resolution (typically 300 DPI).

DTF prints are designed to be durable and can withstand multiple washes. With proper care, they maintain their colour and quality over time.

Like all of decoration methods, it is recommended to wash your garments inside out and in cold water. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

Here are some key advantages:

  1. High-Quality Prints: DTF printing delivers detailed and vivid prints, even for complex designs with gradients or many colors.
  2. Versatility: DTF can be used on a wide variety of materials, allowing for great flexibility in product offerings.
  3. Cost-Effective for Small Runs: DTF printing is ideal for small batches or custom orders, as it avoids the high setup costs of screen printing.
  4. Durability: DTF prints are known for their durability and resistance to cracking or fading, ensuring the designs last over time, even after multiple washes.
  5. No Need for Pre-treatment of Garments: Unlike DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing, DTF does not typically require pre-treatment of garments, simplifying the process and reducing costs.
  6. Soft Feel on Fabric: DTF prints offer a soft and flexible feel on fabric, which is a significant improvement over older methods like heat transfers that might feel stiff.

These advantages make DTF printing an appealing option for many print applications, particularly for those who require high-quality, customizable prints in smaller quantities.
